The ark

During our weekly kidsclub at this moment, we are teaching the children from the start of the bible. We want them to understand that Jesus came as the promised Savior. But to understand that, you also have to learn where we come from. Genesis talks about our creation, than the Fall and all the way to Cain and Abel and Noah. Noah and the Ark we taught on last Saturday and than one of our staff prepared a game. How many stones can we fit in the bowl before it will sink? Points were to win. We had a great time. Pray for the kids to understand more and more about how great is our God!

Teens

Little ones grow up and become teens!!! 
King's Kids sees the potential in each and every child that we have met during our programs over the last years. We also see that some kids are growing up and they don't like our regular kids program anymore.
Last Saturday we had our first gathering with a group of 12 and 13 year olds, some were still 11. But hey, they are teens!!

We had a good time, but believe we also need creativity to make it and keep it attractive for them. Even just the hanging out part! Chances to learn and to grow, for them, and for ourselves!

2012

Dear friends!!
You havent heard much from us for a while! Sorry!! After the floodings happened in Bangkok last year, many things changed in the way we were able to reach out to the children and the families. Also not everyone of the team has been around regularly. Since the new year started, we still have been going to the community weekly. To spend time with kids individually. Sometimes to teach guitar, ukelele, or violin. And to visit families.

To support needs or to encourage them. The regular activities like before we had to put on hold for a while. It also has been good to share life with the kids more in this way. To get to know them in different ways. And to be with them, where they are at in their lifes. Many things happened in some families of the kids, which we are really grateful for. (more later!!!) Also some sad things, which we are praying for. Please continue to follow us....and don't forget to keep us in your prayers! Thank you!

We also are in need of finances to keep doing, what God is calling us to do in reaching out to children, families and the community. Pray for us and don't hesitate to contact us or support us :-)

Lice and hopefully NO floodings....

Sorry for letting you wait so long for another update. It is not that we have been sitting still, but there is not always time to write stories. Just taking some time now as well to ask you to pray for our children. At this moment it looks like Bangkok is going to flood, if the rain keeps coming, and that will also affect our children in the community. Please pray for protection and against more rain!!


Last week Ark International and King's Kids spend time in the community to de-lice some of our children. A team from Australia brought the needed things for that, and it was a great opportunity to do something like this as partnerring ministries. Most kids have lice and sometimes they comb them out, but it was quite a challenge to remove them. It is necesary to do this treatment, and actually it would be good to continue doing this......


Hereby, some photos of our times with them...as we also had a place to color and do their nails and show them they are valuable and loved.

OUTING

Last Saturday, after 12 weeks our regular Saturday program, the kids that had attended faithfully (at least 8 out of 12 times) were able to go on an outing with us. We do did every 3 months, so that they are also motivated to keep coming with us. We let them choose to go to learn more about the stars and planets, or swimming....they chose the last option. So Kings Kids team and about 18 kids went swimming with us and we had so much fun!! After that we went to KFC and ate some french fries and lots of chicken as well. It was a great day and we saw many happy smiles..... (the swimming pictures will follow later... :-)

Dengue fever

A note from our Kings Kids Thailand leader......please read and pray!

Dear Family and friends
I am writing this notes to ask you to pray for us and especially for the kids in the slum.  Last few weeks a few of our staff has been sick and now some of them are still not doing well physically.
Beside ministry and minister to the children in the slum our team would take time during the week to go visit there parents and we had a great time connectting with them.   Last week during visiting the parents we received the bad news that some of the kids were sick,  two of them had pneumonia and the other three had dengue fever (The desease from mosquitoes).  A few days I have been going to the hospital to visit one of our 9 years old girl (Ae) ad dengue fever now she is back home also another name Boss as well.  Yesterday during the meeting I received a phone call from one of our YWAM staff said that a teenager girl that used to come to our program a while ago, has just pass away because of the dengue fever.  It was very shock for me to hear that. She was only 15 years old.  So please pray for her family and also for the kids in the slum community, especially for our staff as well as we are going to the slum for ministry 3-4 times a week.
This is rainy season so there are mosquitoes everywhere.  I am going to try to talk to the community leader to ask the goverment to come and spray the mosquitoes foggy spray !!.  This might prevent the dengue fever or malaria abit.  We are also thinking about buying mosquitoes nets and spray for the kids family but we dont have enough budget yet. (One musquito net would cost 200 Thai Bath). So if you would like to help out please let us know or any better idea how to help them.  Thank you so much for you prayers.

My best friend

Jesus, you're my superhero, you're my star, my best friend! Yeah...yeah...

This song was performed by the young children that were gathered at our YWAM national staff conference that happened from 31st of July till the 3d of August in Cha'am. The kids were singing and dancing for Jesus. All these children are part of families that are serving with YWAM Thailand.

King's Kids just got back from our conference where we met with about 400 Thai and foreign staff that is serving with YWAM in Thailand. The theme was: Come to the banquet table. Well, the food was really good. But also lots of worship, sharing, listening  and networking with other ministries in Thailand as well. And challenged to pray about what the story will be, that we will write on the next page of Ywam Thailand future.

King's Kids was part of the network Children at Risk and we are looking forward to see how we can learn from eachother and help eachother, while all reaching out to children in Thailand.

Music in the community

Since a few weeks we have been starting to teach many of the children to play an instrument. We would like to use this way to continue to build relationship with them, to encourage them, and also to help them to improve their skills. The children that we work with are living in a slum, but we refer to that mostly as a community, because we do not look down on them, wherever they live, they are important in the kingdom of God!! Some children have been starting to learn how to play the guitar, other children have been learning how to play the ukelele! It has been great to see some of them have a great motivation and come also to pick up the ukelele in the community in their free time, to practise by themselves. We do not have enough ukeleles, so if you want to help us to buy more ukeleles, it would be a great blessing to the ministry!

 

As Kings Kids team we have the heart to really see the children grow in their personal abilities, but also to help them to find new ways to worship God. Music is a great tool for that. Pray also that our staff will learn quickly how to play as well. Ukelele is a new instrument for all of us.This music-journey has been a new thing in our Kings Kids ministry, and soon there will be even more developments on that...but more on that later!

Kids Leading Their Own Bible Study

Our God is a great God. Throughout the time that I have been serving the Lord in children and youth ministry, I have seen God do so many great things in ministry and in my personal life. What I am going to share with you is something that I am going to remember for the rest of my life, and when I am tired or discouraged it will remind me that God can do anything if we trust in Him. I also hope that this story will bless you and bring you encouragement.

Last Saturday after the PCYM team came back from the south of Thailand, I asked them to come and visit the children at the slum. They hadn't seen the children for five weeks, and the kids told me how much they were missing the King's Kids staff and PCYM students. Last Saturday, I went to the slum before the team to visit the kids again. I walked to different houses and families to call the kids for the program and tell them that the team are back to see them. However, all the kids' parents told me that their children were not there because they had gone to the park to study the Bible. I was confused and wasn't sure who they'd be studying with, so I walked to the park. When I got to the gate I saw the kids sitting in a circle beside the pond where we usually teach them the Bible. I snuck behind a bush to try to see and hear what they were doing, and this picture brought tears to my eyes. There were no adults with the kids, just the kids themselves, and they were reading the Bible and praying together right next to the pond that we use as our classroom to study Bible with them. I saw that the big kids first prayed for the little kids, and then let them go play so that the big kids could study the Bible together. Each one of them was holding the Bible that we had given them. After they were done reading together, they asked "Who needs prayer?" and they prayed for one another. After they were done and stood up, I said hi to them and they were so excited that they ran to me to give me a hug. Then the rest of the team arrived and I shared with the team what I saw, and then we asked the kids what was going on. The kids told us that they had been doing this for the last several weeks by themselves and said that they missed us so much while we were away, the only way to help them not miss us so much was to do the things we used to do with them. Each week they would call each other to the park and take turns reading the Bible together. It reminded me of what Jesus told His disciples, to do all the same things He has shown them.

After hearing what they shared with us, we felt so encouraged. We thank God for the work that He has done in the kids' lives and see the fruit from what our team has invested. This is something that only God can do and we trust Him to keep doing more. Keep praying for the remainder of the PCYM outreach, as the team is in India right now.
